The biggest gap in resumes today is the difference between knowing a service (passing a cert) and building with it (solving a problem).

This week, I am sharing the 10 best hands-on cloud projects I recommend. I have structured these by difficulty level and, crucially, included “Resume Gold,” a specific bullet points you can copy-paste to describe your work professionally in your resume.

Level 1: The Foundation (Beginner)

Focus: Core services, static hosting, and basic networking.

#1. The “Cloud Resume Challenge.”

This is the gold standard for a reason. You host your resume as a static site, but with a twist: it must use HTTPS, a custom domain, and a visitor counter stored in a database, updated via an API triggered by a script.

  • The Architecture: S3 (Frontend) → CloudFront/CDN → API Gateway → Lambda/Functions → DynamoDB.

  • Tech Stack: HTML/CSS, Python/Node.js, Terraform/SAM (Infrastructure as Code).

  • Sample Solutions:

  • Resume Gold:

    • Designed and deployed a static web application on AWS.

    • Implemented Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to provision resources, eliminating manual configuration.

If you need any help with any of the projects, reach out to me via chat.
